Yet another producer bites the dust!

The third producer of this film has vanished like the other two before him.

The film may not ever get made. Hang in there though, if nothing else there are several videos that could be put on a compilation  DVD, perhaps by fall.

Gary's Statement concerning off the charts the song poem story

I am Gary Forney, star of OFF THE CHARTS THE SONG POEM STORY.

Since the movie came out in 2003, my life — and career — have been a struggle

The film was, in my opinion, heavily slanted and edited to make my music and career appear different from the actual reality.

I feel portrayed in a defamatory light by the film. I feel that my true character was totally distorted. I have found myself the subject of false ridicule, and libel. My concert appearances, projects, and engagements are drastically down due to the film's slanted protrayal of me. I have had for five years, an internet stalker out to destroy what ever remnants may remain of my career.

All of these things that have happened leave me feeling deeply betrayed by the film!

The film and producers involved were more concerned about painting me as a ‘character’ to create a more interesting story line instead of a person with intelligence, talent, and self-respect.

Regardless of the many lies in the movie and false portrayal of me to help carry a story line through, I still struggle to continue my career.

In an effort to repair the extreme damage done to my career and in an attempt to present my own side of the story, another film is being made! The new film is "Caravan, The Gary Forney Story." I highly urge everyone with any interest in the truth to view the new film. Look for it summer of 2010.

GARY FORNEY - MOVIE STAR?

This is Angry Foyer, ace reporter. I recenly did an interview with Gary Forney about film.

AF: All right, Gary, so let's talk movies. The first time most of the world heard of you and your music was due to the exposure of Off The Charts The Song Poem Story. Your next film was the cult classic, Puppy, starring Alice Cooper's daughter, Calico. The fhird film was your own opus, Punk"N, the twelve minute acid art film that gave your new band it's name. Now the underground buzz is your autobiography is about to be made into a movie. Let's talk about your films starting with Off The Charts. I have heard that you have came out recently saying you hated that film. Why? Wasn't it the film that gave you all the attention in the first place?

GF: Yes. I do hate that film! I compare it to doing a concert at a garbage dump. Everyone comes out and they stare at you. You are grateful for the attention. You know it stinks, but assume people know that's the dump and not you or your music. You sort of get used to the smell, and use some of the attention for your own agenda. After a period of time though, you realize that people think of you in connection with the dump, and start thinking the smell is coming from you. The smell rubs off on you due to all the time you've spent there. It's like that with Off The Charts. I thought people knew that that image in that film wasn't the real me. Too many didn't! There started to be way too many people with the wrong idea. I hate the film for that, yet it wasn't completely the film either. I hung around the garbage dump too long is the problem. Off The Charts makes me want to take a bath anymore! I can't get rid of the smell.

AF: That's unfortunate. Do you feel set up as a joke by the film?

GF: Definately. I feel like everyone in the film was! We were all used. If not as a joke, as the punch line to one! Can we get away from that film? It's starting to smell in here!

AF: Let's move on then. Puppy! I have seen it. I compare it to "Slumber Party Massacre". A brillant under-rated film. What is the story with that film?

GF: I love that film. Puppy was a fun film to be involved with and I love all the people assossiated with it. Sony Green was a great producer! I became friends of sorts with many of the talented people involved. Holly Stevens, Astrid Zada. All great people. Sadly though the film never got the exposure or credit it deserved. It was basically stolen by a German producer who released it under another title and took credit for it. That ended that. I hear it was also bootlegged. A sad death for a great little film.

AF: Moving right along again, tell us about your own film, Punk'N.

GF: [ laughs ] I call it my twelve minute acid art film.  Psychedelic Psi-Fi send off. The orginal idea was to just do a short film. It was after I had already done some independent work with my short-lived TV show "Let's Talk Music". I just wanted to make a film. A long time ago I saw a short silent film called "O Dem Watermelons!". It was an interesting film using watermelons. When I was trying to think of an idea for a film I remembered that one. I thought I'd try a film about a killer pumpkin. I needed a title and came up with Punk'N. The whole film was shot on a budget of about fifty dollars. That included several pumpkins, some cheap special effects props, some studio time, etc. I am proud of it. You can watch it over on YouTube.

AF: I have! I, like everyone, would like to know if there will ever be a sequel.

GF: I am really surprised to be saying this, but yes! I finally have an idea for part two. Look for it this fall, I hope. I do have some other concerns, but at least I have the plot. It's a question of cameras and a budget.

AF: Fair enough. We'll look for it soon. Now, about Caravan? Is that the title? Is this the film that was rumored Paramount was going to do?

GF: I actually did talk to Luke Ryan of Paramount. He was interested in a film about The Iowa Mountain Tour. He wanted to write it. I worried that it would end up a comedy like "Harold and Kumar go to Whitecastle" which he had produced. The deal fell through though, if there ever really was a deal. Hollywood considers thousands of films. Some, like the IMT movie never get anywhere. The new film will not be made by Paramount.

AF: Who will produce it?

GF: It will be produced by [ name withheld ] from Boston. I worked with him years ago when he was in radio. He had a bit of a hard time for a few years. Now he's back and wants to do the film. We may co-produce. It's set to be filmed June of 2010.

AF: Can you give us a summary? What's the title?

GF: Right now, the working title is Caravan, after my autobiography of the same name. The film hasn't been written yet. We just have a few ideas. Something will be worked up over this fall and finalized this winter. It hasn't really been settled as to if it will be a documentary or a bio-flick. We'll see.

The guy, who wrote a proposal for Paramount, Tony Downs, continues to shop his screenplay around in hopes of a seperate movie. So things could end up with a two films. Either way, look for at least one film.

AF: When?

GF: With Caravan we are looking for a fall 2010 release. With Punk'N II we are looking at late fall 2009. With any other films I really have no idea.

AF: And there it is. Gary Forney may well yet emerge a movie star!
